This may surprise you but the first thing that most houses have too much of is COLOR.
Using color is an art and it has taken me several years to acquire this art and still I often treat color very badly.
The less confident you are at using color you will do much better using a gentle palette of colors; may have heard them called soft colors.
Example: Buttery Yellow X red or burgundy Buttery Yellow = soft blue
You should stick with a 2-3 color palette and use the pop colors sparingly.
The next thing that houses have too much of is contrast.
You will see contrast in color, in fabric, in woods and so on.
Contrast works best when the rest of the room is in balance.
The third thing our homes have too much of is one that most of us can relate to; CLUTTER.
This is everything from the shoes in the floor to the china dishes we got from our mother, the toys on the floor and the papers stacked on the table.
Everything needs a permanent home, even the 3 pair of shoes you keep tripping over and grandmas china.
Especially need to attend to the loose papers and organize.
Remember to not line up your decor, make into groupings and remember less is more.
You will find that with less clutter in the home you will be more organized in other aspects of your life also.
